Shinto Landscaping was the sole recipient of the CASF 2023 Craftsmanship Award in the Landscaping category.

We are pleased to announce that Derek Turnquest, Landscape Manager for Shinto Landscaping, is the recipient of the 2023 Construction Association of South Florida’s (CASF) Craftsmanship Award.  The Craftsmanship Awards allows contractors and general contractors to nominate individual tradesmen for their experience and dedication to excellence in their craft.

Shinto Landscaping nominated Derek Turnquest for his work at Icon Marina Village.

Icon Marina Village is a new construction project in West Palm Beach. The landscape at Icon Marina Village highlights a quiet elegance that focuses on textures and sustainable maintenance.

Derek handled the landscape installation of over 8,200 units of plantings, including many specialty palms. This was a sensitive project because it included mangrove preservation. It focused on many native species and included installing red mangroves and preserving the existing mangroves – which is especially difficult because of tides.

The landscape is a focal point of the property, with various palm trees and textures that evoke a welcoming invitation to lounge and take in the tropical setting.

Developed by Related and constructed by Balfour Beatty, Icon Marina Village is located on five acres of prime waterfront with gorgeous views of the Intracoastal Waterway, the Atlantic, Palm Beach Island and Downtown West Palm Beach.
